Diamond Dust Light Pillars in Saint-Jean-de-Matha

Preview of video of light pillars in diamond dust

On December 1st, 2025, at 22:10 UTC-5, I was driving through Saint-Jean-de-Matha on my way from Montréal to Saint-Michel-des-Saints.

There was "diamond dust" in the air, tiny flat snow crystals, in dead quiet air.

This caused magnificent stationary "light pillars" to spring forth from every light source—it was surreal.

My dashcam recorded some of them surprisingly well.

This is some of the best footage I've ever seen of such light pillars.

I'm sharing it with the world so more people can appreciate the beauty of this very rare phenomenon.
